The purpose of the scholarship

Stigma keeps people from asking for help. The Archangel Recovery Scholarship exists to push against that stigma by recognizing and supporting individuals who advance awareness, education, and access to recovery in their communities.

It reflects a simple belief at the center of our work: that more open conversation about addiction and mental health leads to more people reaching out before a crisis, not after.

Who it is for

The scholarship is intended for students and community members who are committed to careers, studies, or advocacy that strengthen recovery and behavioral health. That includes people pursuing education in counseling, social work, nursing, public health, and related fields, as well as those leading awareness and peer-support efforts.

Eligibility criteria are being finalized and will be published here so applicants know exactly how to qualify and apply.

How it reflects our mission

The Archangel Centers was built to make outpatient care for addiction and mental health approachable and grounded in dignity. The scholarship extends that mission beyond our own programs into the wider community, supporting the next generation of people who will help others heal.

It is a genuine community-citizenship asset, not a marketing gimmick. We would rather build it carefully and honestly than rush it. That is why the specifics are being shaped with care before they are announced.

The belief behind it

Cost should not be the reason someone goes without care. That conviction is founder-led and it sits underneath everything we do. The way back from addiction and mental health struggle should be reachable, not reserved for people who can afford it without thinking twice.

The Archangel Recovery Scholarship grows out of that same belief. By supporting the people who carry recovery work into their communities, we are trying to widen the path back for everyone who needs it, not narrow it. Awareness and access move together, and this initiative is meant to strengthen both.

Some people land on this page because they need outpatient treatment now and worry they cannot pay for it. If that is you, please know there are real options before you decide care is out of reach. The scholarship is one community-facing piece of a larger commitment to keep treatment within reach.

Most PPO and HMO plans are required to cover behavioral health under federal mental health parity, which means addiction and mental health care is treated on par with other medical care. New Jersey FamilyCare covers many residents in New Jersey, and North Carolina expanded Medicaid in December 2023, opening coverage to many more adults in North Carolina. We offer free benefits verification so you can find out what your plan covers before you commit to anything, and a sliding scale may be available depending on your situation.

These options are not the scholarship itself, and the team can walk you through them in plain language so you understand what applies to you.

How it connects to our programs

The Archangel Centers provides outpatient care across several levels, including a Partial Hospitalization Program, an Intensive Outpatient Program, and standard Outpatient treatment. People step up or down between these levels as their needs change, which lets care follow real life instead of forcing life to pause.

The scholarship and our access initiatives exist to make sure the people who could benefit from those outpatient programs are not turned away by cost or kept silent by stigma. The goal is steady: keep the door open, keep the conversation honest, and keep recovery reachable for the communities we serve in New Jersey and North Carolina.
