Our Team
The Archangel Centers is founder-led and clinician-driven. Lived-experience leadership at the top, licensed clinicians carrying the care.
Medically reviewed by Dr. Justin Skolnick, DO, Medical Director. Last reviewed June 7, 2026.
The Archangel Centers was founded on a simple belief: recovery is real, and the people guiding it should understand the road. Our co-founders bring lived experience, our clinical team brings the credentials, and together they build treatment around the person, not a template.
Mike Sorrentino, Co-Founder
Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino is a co-founder of The Archangel Centers and one of the most public faces of long-term recovery in the country. After living his own struggle with addiction in the public eye, Mike has spent more than a decade in recovery and now dedicates his platform to showing others that the way back is real.
He co-founded The Archangel Centers to turn that message into clinical care, an outpatient treatment center built on honesty, accountability, and the belief that no one has to do it alone.
Lauren Sorrentino, Co-Founder
Lauren Sorrentino is a co-founder of The Archangel Centers, focused on family programming and alumni support. She helps families understand addiction, set healthy boundaries, and stay involved in a loved one's recovery, because recovery rarely happens alone.
Our Clinical Team
Care at The Archangel Centers is delivered by licensed clinical professionals, including licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselors, licensed clinical social workers, licensed professional counselors, and psychiatric providers for medication management. Medical care is directed by Dr. Justin Skolnick, DO, our Medical Director, who oversees evaluations, medication-assisted treatment, and psychiatric management.
Every educational page on this site is reviewed by our clinical team. Our founders, medical, and operations leadership are profiled above, and clinician profiles continue to expand across our New Jersey and North Carolina centers.
- Licensed therapists and counselors (LCADC, LCSW, LPC)
- Psychiatric and medication-management providers
- Case managers and admissions specialists
- Family and alumni program coordinators
How Our Team Is Structured
The Archangel Centers runs on two distinct layers that work toward the same goal. At the top is founder-led, lived-experience leadership: people who have walked the recovery road themselves and who set the tone, the values, and the standard for how clients are treated. Underneath that direction is a licensed clinical team that delivers the actual care, day in and day out.
This separation is deliberate. Our co-founders provide vision, advocacy, and accountability, while licensed clinicians own every clinical decision, treatment plan, and therapeutic relationship. Clients get the warmth and credibility of leaders who understand addiction firsthand, and the safety of care that is always delivered by qualified, licensed professionals.
Our Clinical Model
Treatment at The Archangel Centers is built around an integrated team, not a single provider working in isolation. Counselors, clinical social workers, and psychiatric and medical providers collaborate on one coordinated plan for each client, so that addiction and any co-occurring mental health conditions are treated together rather than as separate problems passed between offices.
This integrated, outpatient approach means a client struggling with both substance use and anxiety, depression, trauma, or another mental health condition is supported by a team that shares notes, aligns on goals, and adjusts care as the person progresses. The result is treatment that follows the whole person instead of a single symptom.
Lived-Experience Leadership
Mike and Lauren Sorrentino lead The Archangel Centers as co-founders, not as clinicians. Their role is leadership, advocacy, and lived-experience direction: setting the culture, championing the mission publicly, and reminding everyone in the building what is at stake. They are not therapists or medical providers, and they do not deliver clinical care.
That distinction matters to us and to the families we serve. The vision and the voice of the organization come from people who have lived recovery. The clinical work is carried entirely by licensed professionals who are trained, credentialed, and accountable for the care they provide.
Our Credentialing Philosophy
We hold a clear standard: every piece of clinical care at The Archangel Centers is delivered by licensed clinical professionals. We do not blur the line between leadership and treatment, and we do not present non-clinicians as providers of care.
We publish our roster transparently. Our founders, Medical Director, managing partners, program director, and admissions leadership are named and profiled above, and individual clinician profiles continue to expand as go-forward staff are confirmed and onboarded across both centers. We would rather show a roster that is accurate and verifiable than fill a page with names before the team is set.
What You Can Expect From Our Team
From the first conversation, our goal is for you to feel understood rather than processed. The people who answer the phone and sit across from you in admissions are trained to listen first, and to meet you where you are without judgment.
We also build for continuity. As you move through outpatient levels of care, we work to keep the relationships you have built intact, so you are not starting over with strangers at every step. Familiar faces and a consistent team make it easier to stay engaged and to keep moving forward.
One Mission, Two Locations
The Archangel Centers serves clients across two communities with a single mission. Our New Jersey center in Tinton Falls is live and accepting clients today, with the full team and outpatient programming in place.
Our Charlotte, North Carolina center is coming soon, and the same standard of founder-led leadership and licensed clinical care will carry across both locations. Whichever community you reach us from, you can expect the same values, the same integrity, and the same commitment to outpatient treatment built around the person.

I had the honor of touring this facility, and it was absolutely beautiful, clean, and thoughtfully designed. But more than how it looked, you could feel the love in every detail. Watching the staff interact with clients genuinely touched my heart.
